THE PURPOSE

For the past 3 years, Greenbrier Church has sent a team to serve the people of Heredia, Costa Rica. This summer marks our 4th year of ministry in the region, and we are praying that God moves even more than He has before!

The primary purpose for this trip will be to connect with and support local leaders with the same heart to share the gospel to a culture that rejects Jesus Christ.

Though the specific itinerary could change, we are planning on

• partnering with a local church that ministers in prisons
• assisting in orphan care
• ministering to child victims of sexual assault
• helping an after school center for the community of Heredia called La Roca

The heart of all these activities will be sharing the gospel. Charity without the gospel is only temporary help. We plan to leverage our relationships in the community to be most effective in our outreach.

What is the travel schedule?
US Airways
DEPART Augusta 7/3 at 9:25AM, Arrive in San Jose at 1:30PM - Connect in Charlotte

RETURN San Jose 7/11 at 2:35PM, Arrive in Augusta at 11:37PM - Connect in Charlotte

Do I need a passport?
You will need to have a valid passport to travel outside of the United States. Please allow enough time for processing to take place. Processing can take as long as 6 weeks non-expedited. This is not included in the base cost for the trip.

Do I need any specific shots for the trip?
The Center for Disease Control have recommendations on their website for shots you may need. You should consult your family doctor. Shots are not included in the base cost for the trip.

Is there an age requirement?
The required age is 16 or older if traveling without a parent/gaurdian.

Is the water safe to drink?
Drinking water will be filtered. Though local drinking water should be fine, it is best to stick with the filtered water. We strongly recommend that you bring a portable Nalgene type water bottle to refill and keep with you at all times.

What about Donation Letters?
A good way to raise prayer support and financial support for your mission trip is to send out donation letters to family and friends. You can download a sample donation letter.

Checks should be made out to Greenbrier Church. The memo line of checks should include your name in order to receive proper credit. Donated receipts are tax-deductible.
